The Rights and Responsibilities of Zeus
Zeus has vast span of rights. He is allowed to make laws. He also can punish mortals for committing crimes. His punishments are usually very harsh and strict so that the message is clear. In the lliad and the Oddesy Zeus had the right to choose a side and he chose to side with the Trojans.
Some things are limited or beyond his control. He does have the right to try and kill any mortal but, the fate Atropos really decides if they would be dead or not by choosing to cut the thread of life or not. He also does not have the power to control other gods or goddesses jobs or sacred items. Like everybody esle not even Zeus can control fate. |
Zeus is responsible for dictating all gods, goddesses, and mortals. He is also responsible for enforcing the lawsand making sure there are no potential threats to his throne. Zeus also responsible for changes in the wether, temperature, and for protecting the gods and humans from evil. One example of Zeus punishing someone is in the story Prometheus Bound. In the story Prometheus the titain steals fire and gives it to mortals. So
Zeus punishes him by chaining him to a rock and everey day an eagle would come and fead on his liver. Prometheus is imortal so his liver would grow back and the eagle would come back and eat it again. |
